Engine Options
Volkswagen Transporter T5 and T6 (euro 5)
All models come with a 2.0TDI engine which is available in 84PS, 102PS, 140PS and the twin-turbo 180PS power outputs. The first two come with a 5 speed manual gearbox while the 140PS and 180PS versions have a 6 speed manual as standard or an option for a 7 speed DSG automatic. All of these engines come with front-wheel drive as standard but the 140PS and 180PS engines were also available with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel drive.
The 5 speed gearbox is adequate thanks to well chosen gear ratios and the engines’ broad spread of torque.
In our opinion the 84PS is a little under powered and the 102PS engine is much better all rounder although don’t expect a sporty performance from either, if you prefer a bit more performance then the 140PS is the one to choose as it has the best balance between performance and running costs.
Volkswagen Transporter T6 (euro 6)
When the T6 was launched it had the same range of Euro 5 engines that powered the outgoing T5, they were phased out in mid 2015 and replaced with the cleaner Euro 6 engines available in 84PS, 102PS, 150PS and the new twin-turbo 204PS.

Volkswagen Transporter T6
The VW Transporter Startline is the entry-level trim, standard equipment includes electric mirrors and windows, multi-adjustable driver’s seat, dual passenger seat and a 5-inch touchscreen DAB radio with Bluetooth connectivity.
The Trendline trim adds cruise control, a driver comfort pack with added noise suppression, armrests on the driver seat and a sunglass holder, outside it has colour coded bumpers, mirrors and door handles, wheel trims and reverse parking sensors.
The top of the range Highline model gives you 16” Clayton alloy wheels, cornering fog lamps, automatic headlamps, rain sensitive wipers, climate control air conditioning, a heated windscreen and leather-trimmed multi-function steering wheel plus a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser.

All models are available in either short or long wheelbases and with either barn doors or a tailgate on the rear.
